Terms of use

Last updated: October 16, 2026

In short: Omit helps you hide parts of your pictures. You are responsible for what you hide, what you share and who you share it with. The app is made with care and provided as it is, without guarantees.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to the Android app Omit and the website smitmedia.dev/omit, made by Dennis Smit ("the developer") and published on Google Play under the name Smit Media. By using the app you agree to these terms. How the app handles your data is described in the privacy policy.

2. What the app does

Omit helps you hide parts of pictures, screenshots and PDF documents, such as faces, text and ID details, and save the result as a new file. The app finds faces, text and ID details on your phone to help you, but you decide what is hidden. Your original file is not changed.

3. Check the result yourself

Automatic detection is an aid and is never perfect: a face, a word or a detail can be missed. You are responsible for checking the result before you share it, and for what you hide, what you share and who you share it with. For details that must stay unreadable, use solid black.

4. Lawful use

Use Omit only for pictures and documents you are allowed to edit. Do not use the app to deceive others, to forge or falsify documents, or for anything unlawful. Hiding information in a document does not change who owns it or what the law requires you to keep.

5. Keep your originals

Omit works on copies and leaves your original files as they are. Drafts and recently saved items are kept on your phone only for convenience and can disappear, for example when you clear the app's storage. Keep your originals and your results in a safe place.

6. Services of others

The app is distributed through Google Play, whose terms apply to downloading, rating and buying in the app. Recognition of faces and text and document scanning use components from Google (ML Kit and Google Play services), whose terms apply to those components.

7. Omit Pro

The Android app is free to use. Omit Pro is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks automatic finding of faces, text and ID details, extra styles and colors, PDFs with more than one page, a watermark, and more export formats and sizes. The purchase is handled by Google Play and is linked to your Google account, so it also works on a new phone with the same account. Payment, cancellation and refunds follow the rules of Google Play; your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

8. Availability

The app is made and maintained with care, but it is provided as it is. The developer cannot guarantee that the app always works without errors on every device. Features may be changed, added or removed.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for damage caused by using the app, such as a detail that was not hidden, a picture shared by mistake or a file that is lost. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

10. Name, logo and app

The name Omit, the logo, the app and the website belong to the developer. You may use the app, but you may not copy it, resell it or distribute a modified version.

11. Changes

These terms may be changed when the app changes. The date at the top shows the last change. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.

12. Applicable law and contact

These terms are governed by Dutch law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection of the country where you live. Questions? Use the contact form on this website.
